Farmaroc: Moroccan Military Emergencies Unit (UMMU)

The Moroccan Military Emergencies Unit (French: Unité Marocaine Militaire d’Urgences, UMMU) is a branch of the Royal Moroccan Armed Forces responsible for providing disaster relief throughout Morocco mainly, and abroad if required. It is the newest branch of the Royal Moroccan Armed Forces, created in 2013’s Summer, with the cooperation of the Spanish Armed Forces and its Unidad Militar de Emergencias (Spanish Military Emergency Unit). Its main missions will be:

  1. Intervention during emergency situations that have their origin in natural hazards; among these are floods, spill-overs, earthquakes, land slides, large snow storms and other adverse weather conditions.
  2. Intervention fighting forest fires.
  3. Intervention during emergency situations derived from technological hazards; among which are chemical, nuclear, radiological and biological hazards (CBRN defense)
  4. Intervention during situations of environmental contamination.
